Slechts 64 euro was het, voor 12 of 16 cartridges, en dat leek nadat ik een enorme stapel plastic en verpakkingsmateriaal had verwijderd eigenlijk toch best wel veel geld. En al dat plastic, dan moest toch ook anders kunnen.
De mesjes heb ik nu nog, en af en toe mogen ze mee op een buitenlandse trip. Maar gebruikt worden ze niet echt meer, want ik ging eens wat lezen op Badger & Blade, kocht bij Muhle een kwast en een mes en de rest, zoals men zegt, is geschiedenis. Inmiddels heb ik de potentiële besparingen omgezet in een fikse collectie scheerartikelen, zoveel dat het dagelijkse ritueel akelig op een hobby begint te lijken.
En misschien komt daar voor sommigen van ons wel het plezier vandaan.

Soms prijzig en exclusief, en af en toe vintage voor bijna niets. Inderdaad het klassiek natscheren is zoveel plezierigere dan het modern scheren, ik zelf scheerde voor de overstap ook met zo'n elektronische marteltuig. Het deed zijn werk, maar mijn huid stond letterlijk in vuur en vlam na zo'n scheerbeurt. Nu met het scheren met krabber, scheerzeep, scheerkwast en aftershave heb ik er echt plezier in gekregen. Al vind ik nog steeds dat het geen moetje hoeft te zijn, maar dat is het fijne aan krabbers: Je scheert er net zo eenvoudig een vijfdaags baartje mee weg als je een twee daags baartje weg scheert.
